Who is Jen Ford?

Jen Ford has an extensive background in education and professional certifications, making her proficient in change management, healthcare, and emergency response. She holds a Graduate Certificate in Change Management from Royal Roads University and a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from York University, where she also studied Political Science. Her education is complemented by certifications in Outdoor Emergency Care and Avalanche Operations from the National Ski Patrol and the Canadian Avalanche Association, respectively.

Professionally, Jen is deeply involved in local governance, serving as a Municipal Councillor for the Resort Municipality of Whistler since November 2014. She has held significant leadership positions, including Past President of the Union of British Columbia Municipalities since September 2018, and as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District since November 2020. Her roles in these positions emphasize her capabilities in regional governance, strategic planning, and community development, underpinned by her broad knowledge in health, safety, and administrative operations.

Whistler Council

First elected in 2014, re-elected in 2018 and 2022. Jen has held appointments to Whistler Community Services Society, Whistler Animals Galore, Whistler Public Library, Whistler Housing Authority, among other local non-profits.

Regional District Board

Appointed to Regional District in 2018 as RMOW appointee, elected Vice Chair 2019, and elected Chair 2020. Continues to serve as Chair of the Board. Jen serves as a director for the Municipal Finance Authority and the Sea to Sky Regional Hospital District Chair.

Union of BC Municipalities

First elected as Director at Large 2018, Jen then served as table officer from 2019 to present role of Immediate Past President. Jen continues to serve as the appointed member of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
