an account from one Whistler Councillor

Why Jen Ford is MY Candidate

Friends and Neighbours: I want to represent your concerns and opinions at the Municipal Council table. We are so lucky to live in this beautiful place, where the rest of the world only come for a day or a week at a time to get away from it all. This is our all, but we need to actively participate in it’s direction. Please vote for me on November 15th, 2014.

  • An open and honest government that welcomes community participation
  • Responsible spending on services that serve the needs of THIS community
  • Daycare services for parents that work towards our thriving economy
  • Creative options for housing both long and short term residents
  • Responsible waste management to protect our bear population

My resume includes supervising the opening and operations of multiple retail locations, managing budgets, hiring and training seasonal staff, and Conference and group sales. I am currently a patroller on Blackcomb. I volunteered for two years on the board at WAG, and I am the elected resident representative at the board of the Whistler Housing Authority. I am actively engaged in the political scene in Whistler, having attended nearly every council meeting for the past three years, tweeting under the name @whipoli.

I do not have all of the answers. I know where to do the research, how to ask the questions, and how to gather feedback and input in order to make an informed decision. I will not make big promises, as I will be one of 7 people at the table, and will have one voice. Vote for me and let me speak with your collective voices so that you are heard. I have listened to you, my friends, I have read your letters with your concerns.

With your help, I will work as hard as you do. Please vote on November 15th, 2014.
