so many seats... what do they all mean?

Councillor, Resort Municipality of Whistler

Jen was elected to Council in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. There are 6 councillors and Mayor. The job entails reading several hundred pages of board packages on Thursday, in advance of Tuesday's semi-monthly meetings. The council package includes staff reports, information reports, correspondence, and delegations from community groups. 

Between council meetings and preparation, there are many appointments to committees and other community events. Council has jurisdiction in municipal waste, water and roads, land use planning, emergency planning, transit and transportation.

Board Chair, Squamish Lillooet Regional District

Jen was appointed by Mayor Whilhelm Morden in January 2018, and subsequently by Mayor Crompton later that year after the 2018 election. Municipal appointees to the Regional District are fully voting members of the local government that provides coordinated services for the region that surrounds the municipalities as well as for the citizens in the electoral areas. These services include solid waste, land use planning, and coordination of financial obligations. 

In November 2020 and 2021, the board of directors elected Jen as the Chair, which is re-elected every year of the 4-year term. 

1st Vice President, Union of BC Municipalities

Jen was first elected as a Director at Large in 2018 by member municipalities and regional districts all over BC. The UBCM is a collective advocacy group, working with Provincial Government on policy, funding programs, and governance for all Municipalities in BC.

Board Chair, Whistler Housing Authority

Jen was first elected as a non-voting member of the board in 2012. When Jen was elected to Council in 2014, the Mayor appointed Jen to a voting seat. In 2018, Jen was elected by the board to Chair to continue the work of affordable housing policy, planning and funding advocacy. 

Board Chair, Sea to Sky Regional Hospital District


The Sea to Sky Regional Hospital District is a board within the Regional District that has taxation capacity to share the costs of health care with the Province and the health authority. Jen was elected to Chair in 2019, and has worked hard with VCH, the Province and local healthcare foundations to improve decision making.
